It's unutterably brilliant. I bought it second hand in the mid nineties from the Tape and Record Exchange book shop at Notting Hill. I even remember that much detail because I love it so much. Dorgathen (great surname) uses the Masereel technique of no speech (kinda) to tell the story of a scrappy dog chosen by NASA to go in to space. When he's in space.. well, all sorts of mad stuff starts happening.

It's a social satire and a media satire, as well as just about being the loveliest book you'll read in yonks. Utterly charming and delightful. I guess I could say by way of cultural reference if you like "Mr Lunch" type stuff, which is more whimsical, you'd like this too. Although it's not necessarily a kids book (hey, sex and smoking - surely a AA certificate).

It's only been published once in the UK and presumably similarly in the US. It's still happily on sale on amazon.de ("people who bought this book also bought books by Peter Ustinov") with the trusty Amazon ASIN code of 3498012959, so you could try getting it from there.
